Dental hygiene treatments are one of the easiest ways to maintain the health of your teeth and gums. By gently scaling and polishing your teeth, a dental hygienist can remove deposits of plaque, which can cause decay, bad breath, staining and bleeding gums and help keep them free from plaque in the future.
At Quayside Dental and Implant Centre we have a full-time, caring and professional hygiene team who provide preventative care focused on treating gum and periodontal disease. With more than 25 years of combined experience across Ireland and the UK, our hygiene team is skilled, enthusiastic and passionate about our patients.
They aim to motivate you to follow their detailed and personalised instructions so you can enjoy a lifetime of happy and healthy teeth.
During your visit the hygienist will gently scale and polish your teeth, removing plaque buildup, before showing you techniques to reduce any further deposits from developing between visits.
They will also take the time to talk about any dental issues or concerns you may have and will work with you to create your own personalised care routine.
Our friendly and welcoming hygiene team are very passionate about educating our patients on the best way to keep their gums and teeth healthy and free of disease. Their enthusiasm is infectious! They understand the importance of building trust and confidence with their patients.
If you are showing any of these signs, give us a call today to book an appointment. These can be signs of more serious problems that may need treatment:
Pink Colouration- A red or pink tinge on your toothbrush after brushing your teeth
Odd Tastes- A taste of blood or other peculiar tastes in your mouth
Tender mouth- Swollen, bruised or tender areas of gum, especially in between your teeth
Seeing Blood- Blood in your mouth, or on your teeth, especially on awakening
Teeth Instability- Loosening teeth
Food traps- Areas around your teeth from which it is difficult or painful to remove food
Tooth Movement- Teeth changing position or drifting out of alignment
Discharge in the mouth- Swellings on your gums or any discharge such as pus occurring on or around your gums
Pain eating hot or cold food- Increasing sensitivity to temperature change
Gum Changes- Receding gums
Our supportive and enthusiastic team will create a tailored approach to your oral health and provide a comprehensive plan to battle against periodontal (gum) disease. With their skills and experience, you can achieve optimum oral health through education, cleaning and thorough detox of your mouth.
Untreated gum disease creates strong acids that destroy fibres attached to your teeth, causing ‘pockets’ which are extremely difficult to clean. These pockets can cause:
● Gum shrinkage
● Tooth loss
● Bleeding, swollen, spongy and painful gums
● Foul tastes and bad breath
● Loss of bone supporting the teeth
● Loose and/or ‘gappy’ splayed front teeth
● Abscesses
Our hygiene team will always work within their scope of experience and practice and will only carry out treatments they are trained to do. If they find issues outside their realm of expertise, they will let you know it’s time to see the dentist.
We offer simple, flexible ways to pay for dental care to all our Quayside Dental members.
